Abstract

This study considers one of gems of ancient Arab poetry (Dalliat Duried Ibn Assemah), and offers a new view on this poem, this view is based on the hypothesis that this poem doesn’t belong to the Rethaa genre, contrary to the common view among pre-Islamic poetry researchers. This study utilizes the analytic methodology to reveal the remorse stored within this text, which the poet is trying to alleviate by using his art to convey a human soul devoured by guilt, leaving us a deep text that captivated researchers throughout history and still does so today.
