The Discourse Formations in the Will of Omamah bint Al-Harith to her Daughter

Abstract

This research deals with the will of Omamah bint al-Harith to her daughter in an analytical study of its discourse that reveals the elements that contributed to its formation, showing the incorporated strategies practiced within the will, then tests the constituents of the power of discourse in it, trying to uncover the effect of the discourse narrativization and its fascination, to reach the implicit of the discourse. Using for this purpose the implements of discourse and narrative analysis that present to the researcher the possible methodological and reading analysis that uncover the discourse ingredients of the will that are well known, archived and used in Arab Heritage, that was untouched, in spite of its placement in the annals of prose heritage, by studies that advocate the contemporary study in text analysis and literary reading. The study strives at reading the examples presented in the will and its reciting the “ Woman and Wife” example as a model of man’s dominance with the condition of the centralization of man in all his aspirations and disposition, as the woman, in all her different roles, would be a reflection and shadow of man’s roles, without any condescending exaggerations. Trying the historical chronology created in the will using the following contextual historical words:
