The Role of General Framework, Public and Private Productions, and Books of Jordanian Social Studies for the Primary and Secondary Education Stages in Enhancing the National Outcomes for Students

Abstract

This study aimed at revealing the role of general framework, public and private outcomes, and books of Jordanian social studies for the primary and secondary education stages in enhancing the national aspects for students. The researchers used the descriptive analytical method by preparing a note card. The sample consisted of all the documents of the general framework and the general and private outcomes of history, geography and national and civic education, as well as the books of social studies that were approved by the Ministry of Education during the period 1921-2018 that were available in the School Book Museum. The result of the study revealed that national knowledge and cognitive discourses in the general framework and the public and private outcomes of history, geography, and national and civic education were represented the main themes and their general and private outcomes. The result of the study also revealed the social studies books (history, geography and national and civic education) for the students of general education stages, especially the old ones has presented large spaces and weights for the development of the national senses for students, represented by the existence of complete books specified national goals, and continued to interest in the establishing of these national goals in contemporary books through presenting national topics in books. The study recommended several recommendations including enriching the national aspects in the books of social studies through presenting cultural, social, health, environmental, political activities.
